Vallourec Tianda Plant safety production creates more value for customers

First, safety production is the embodiment of company social responsibility. Only by ensuring the safety of employees’ lives can a company truly provide customers with high-quality products and services.
Second, safe production can improve production efficiency and avoid production time delays due to safety incidents, so that company can better meet customer needs.
Finally, safety production can reduce costs. A good safety production environment can reduce accidents and losses in the production process, thereby reducing the production cost of the company.
As a long-term sustainable development company, we must always put the interests of customers first and adhere to safe production.
Our life is inseparable from various production activities, and safe production is the most basic and important condition to ensure the safety of employees’ lives. On March 13, an accident occurred in the Quality Inspection Department of Vallourec Tianda Chuzhou plant in which an employee hurt his foot when a steel mill fell. In the context of the company’s more than 500 consecutive days without recordable incidents, the accident is a good warning: safety risks are all around you, safety improvement is endless, and continuous improvement of safety requires every employee to pay attention to the bit of their daily work. To have a deeper understanding of the inspiration behind this incident to improve our safety management in the future, the management immediately organized an accident analysis meeting for all employees of the Quality Department to analyze the causes of the accident, summarize the lessons of the accident, and seize the best window to improve the safety awareness of employees.
Through in-depth analysis and communication, we got several warnings:
First, small deviations can lead to serious consequences, “empiricism” is unacceptable, and empiricism is not always correct, empiricism often hides safety hazards.
Second, for everyone, to improve safety awareness is to start from the most basic things, to think and examine their habits from a different perspective, reduce the harm caused by safety hazards.
Third, “safe access” and “safety observation” should be implemented in detail: the core of security access and security observation is to require managers to discover and explore the potential safety risks of each action of employees and give feedback to employees’ good behaviors. When this is done, many risks are detected and dismantled before they cause an accident.
Fourth, you should always be careful at work, and always remind yourself that “one heart cannot be used for two purposes”, the safety hazard is by your side, and this hazard will come out to give you a bite when you are careless.
Fifth, linking the Group’s 12 life-saving rules with our daily work, refine every aspect of the work. This is an important way for us to find and investigate hidden dangers and improve potential safety hazards.
